That's right folks. For the entire month of June of 2010, DeKalb County residents can get their dog(s) spayed/neutered for only $5! Thanks to the AARF at LifeLine Animal Project, this procedure is very affordable and is vital to keep the over population of animals from getting even more out of control. The fine print is that this special is only for dogs and you should stop by the Dekalb Animal Services shelter to pick up an original flyer with all of the details to take advantage of this offer. Free Spay or Neuter For All Cats in February 2010

The Atlanta Humane Society is offering free spay or neuter services for cats during the entire month of February 2010! This service normally costs $60-$80 so don't pass this up. You can book your appointment now by calling 404-875-6420.

ARRC Yard Sale - The Results!

Back in August, the Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Coalition (ARRC) had it's very first fundraiser in efforts to raise money for the appropriate certifications to become an official Georgia Animal Rescue organization. The Total amount we raised from this event is $376 and some change. This is enough money to purchase and go through the process for 1 of 2 certifications needed. So we want to thank ALL for their donations, participation and purchases to help us raise the money we did!

The ARRC team arrived at 9:00 am at the Old Rock Gym at Sonoraville High School in Calhoun, GA. They began setting up and customers arrived a few minutes later. The location was awesome as they were set up a few miles from I-75 at the school. Our foot traffic was steady all day as a few youth football practices were held at a field next door. One member of the ARRC, Robin Rees, said "With the economy being tight for everyone we asked for reasonable prices and feel we were definitely rewarded for our efforts."

"There were two memorable events that I can think of off the top of my head." said Robin. "First when a young boy wanted a soccer ball and his mom hesitated with the purchase since she had already begun to carry her items to the her car. I called to him and threw him the ball and his face lit up as he bounced away with a huge smile on his face." Robin continued to state the second event. "Another little boy was walking around with a skate board. After calling out to his parents who obviously said no on the skateboard, he had walked away kinda solemn. I called out to his mom and asked if it was OK for him to have it and as she said yes he grabbed it and ran away holding it tight to his chest in a bear hug."

If it wasn't for people generosity, we would not be able to touch animals or even people's lives. We shout out a very special thanks to Mary McDaniel for organizing our first yard sale event! Animal Fighting Awareness

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) provides education on care for animals in our homes and communities. They've recently released some newsletters that are beneficial in educating awareness about the illegal act of dog fighting and how we can all help to put an end to this cruel practice! Originally designed for students and teachers for grades 3 - 8, this information is clearly written and easily understandable for us of all ages.

ARRC Yard Sale

Please plan to join us, the Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Coalition (ARRC), this Saturday, August 22, 2009 as we are having our first fundraiser. With our ARRC Yard Sale, we hope to raise money to become certified as an Atlanta animal rescue organization and provide more future animal rescues in Atlanta and greater Atlanta areas.
